The Election Commission on Thursday ordered the immediate removal of the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police of Munger over violence during goddess Durga idol immersion that had left one dead and scores injured.

Former Gujarat chief minister Keshubhai Patel passed away at the age of 92. He breathed his last at a hospital here on Thursday. Patel (92) had recovered from COVID-19 recently and was rushed to a hospital in Ahmedabad Thursday morning following health complications.
3. Protest against land laws: PDP's march foiled, office sealed and several leaders detained
Jammu and Kashmir administration on Thursday foiled a protest march of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the new land law and detained several leaders including the former Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Khurshid Alam. Party's Srinagar office was also sealed by the authorities.
4. SC seeks Centre's reply on plea alleging no approval for Remdesivir, Favipiravir to treat COVID-19
The Supreme Court on Thursday sought response from the Centre on a plea alleging that two medicines Remdesivir and Favipiravir, are being used for the treatment of COVID-19 without approval. A bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde issued notice to the Centre on the plea and sought its response in four weeks.
5. Enforcement Directorate questions Bineesh Kodiyeri in drugs case
Bineesh Kodiyeri, son of Kerala CPI-M secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, on Thursday deposed before the Enforcement Directorate and was questioned in connection with the allegations of his links with an accused in Bengaluru drug case. This is the third time Bineesh is appearing before the ED officials.

French police said on Thursday that two people have been killed and several others injured in a knife attack near a church in the Mediterranean city of Nice. The assailant was arrested after the Thursday morning attack and taken to a nearby hospital after being injured during his arrest, a police official said.
