New Delhi: The Central government on Friday has suggested that Bhilwara strategy could be adopted by all states for containing Covid-19 pandemic.

The strategy include enforcing strict lockdown protocol, sealing hotspot as well as Covid suspected areas, door to door checking of suspects among others.

According to the sources, cabinet secretary Rajiv Gauba in a video conferencing has highlighted Bhilwara example to contain the infectious disease.

The issue has come to the fore following the increasing number of Covid-19 positive cases. India till date has registered 6432 Covid-19 positive cases with 199 deaths.

Such a huge number of positive cases inspite of 21 days nationwide lockdown, has also raised questions over the containment strategy from both Central and State Governments.

"Why government was so late in predicting about the outbreak of such an infectious disease?" said Giridhar Gyani, director general of Association of Health Care Providers-India. Giridhar Gyani also hailed Bhilwara administration for its coronavirus containment strategy.

He said that almost all district administrations in different states have, of late, started enforcing strict lockdown.

"Delhi, UP and Haryana government have already identified major hotspots besides sealing several area. And this should be the same strategy for all district administrations," said Dr Gyani to ETV Bharat.

However, Union Health Ministry has said that all the state governments have been taking adequate steps to contain the spread of Covid-19.

"It's not the time to criticise someone. Instead, we should encourage the state governments and district administrations for their tireless efforts against Covid-19," Lav Agarwal, joint secretary in the Health Ministry said in a response.

It may be mentioned here that Bhilwara, a textile town in Rajasthan and once a hotspot for Covid-19 has reported only one single case in last 10 days since April 2.

Bhilwara's 27th Covid-19 case was reported on April 4.

Before enforcing the lockdown, Bhilwara was Rajasthan's worst coronavirus affected district with 26 cases till April 2. Significantly, 17 people have also been recovered.

Government officials said that Bhilwara district administration screened nearly 50 million people, and tested 11.7 million households with door to door services in a couple of days.

The district administration further enforced very strong lockdown protocol, curfew in different places and even two kilometre area of a Covid-19 infected person is sealed and thoroughly checked.

It may be mentioned here that Delhi government has recently identified 25 hotspots, UP government has identified several hotspots in 15 districts and a major number of areas in Haryana have also been declared as hotspots by the state government which have also been sealed.
