Some leaders used Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid issue for political gains: BJP

The BJP has expressed satisfaction over the hearings in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case, thanking the judiciary and political leadership of the country. It also accused past leadership of "not showing the required interest" in the matter.

New Delhi: Expressing gratitude to the Supreme Court and the Union Government for showing the required interest in settling the age-old issue of Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case, the BJP on Thursday said the issue could have been solved long ago but "some politicians used the situation for their political gains".

Speaking to the ETV Bharat here, BJP leader Tarun Chug said people of the country were happy as the hearings in the age-old case are over and judgement would be delivered soon."I am thankful to the judicial system of the country, the Supreme Court and the government for showing the required will to resolve the sensitive case," he said.The BJP leader said the issue lingered on as "some political leaders were busy making people fight with each other for their petty political gains" .On being asked when the Ram Temple would be constructed, Chug said the whole country wants it to be constructed as soon as possible but anything would be done only the court's decision on the matter.He also expressed confidence that the country would remain peaceful when the top court announces its decision on the issue.The constitution bench, led by the Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, on Wednesday reserved its judgement after a 40-day marathon hearing on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case.
