Hyderabad (Telangana): In a major crackdown, Hyderabad Zone Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials have seized smuggled gold worth over Rs 13.3 crore and arrested 12 persons in this connection.
According to sources, on January 31, the Nellore DRI unit officials inspected the Chennai-Jaipur super fast express train at Vijayawada and arrested three accused persons and over 7 kg gold biscuits have been recovered from them.

Similarly, three passengers were found smuggling gold at the Secunderabad Railway Station and were arrested. Police have recovered 6,470 grams of gold worth Rs 2.73 crore.
In another incident, officials have seized 10,709 grams of gold worth Rs 4.53 crore and three passengers were arrested in the process, sources said.
While inspecting TSRTC bus at Vijayawada's Kanakadurga bridge, DRI officials nabbed another three smugglers and 7,077 grams of gold worth Rs 2.99 crore was seized, sources added.
"We have seized 31.5 kg of gold worth Rs 13.3 crore in three days and 12 smugglers were arrested in this connection. All were nabbed red-handed as they did not have any documents regarding the gold," said, Prasad, Additional Director of DRI.
