BJP worker shot by militants in Kashmir dies

District President of Budgam BJP OBC, Abdul Hamid Najar, who was shot by militants in Ompora area on Saturday, succumbed to injuries at SMHS hospital on Monday morning. In the incident Abdul Najar received bullet wounds in his abdomen and leg, however, he was immediately shifted to SMHS hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to injuries this morning.

Kashmir: The critically injured BJP worker who was earlier shot at by militants in Ompora area of central Kashmiri’s Budgam district on Sunday succumbed to injuries at SMHS hospital on Monday morning.

According to reports, the man identified as Abdul Hamid Najar, a resident of Ompora, Mehendipora area of Budgam was shot at by suspected militants resulting in serious injuries to him. Militants opened fire on BJP district president, outside his shop near police station Bandipora at around 9 pm, cops had stated.

In the incident Abdul Najar received bullet wounds in his abdomen and leg, however, he was immediately shifted to SMHS hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to injuries this morning.

Najar is the fourth BJP worker or office bearer targeted by militants in the last one month.

Earlier on August 6, A Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) sarpanch, Sajad Ahmad Khanday was shot dead by unidentified terrorists outside his residence at Vessu Gazigund area of Kulgam. He later succumbed to severe injuries.

Arif Ahmad, a sarpanch affiliated to BJP, was critically wounded after suspected militants fired upon him at Akhran Qazigund on August 4.

Earlier in July, a BJP leader named Wasim Ahmad Bari, his father and brother were shot dead by militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district.
