SC directed an immediate release of two people who had supported the gang-rape survivor in Bihar's Aaria, saying that the order which sent the duo to the judicial custody was impermissible.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday directed an immediate release of two people who had supported the gang-rape survivor in Aaria, Bihar.

The constitutional bench led by Justice Arun Mishra issued a notice, seeking relief of the duo with a payable amount of Rs 10,000 as a surety for bail.

The two people, representing an NGO were taken to judicial custody for allegedly supporting the Bihar gang-rape survivor.

Following the arrest, the duo filed a petition, seeking bail.

Meanwhile, the apex court observed that the order which sent the duo to the judicial custody was impermissible.
