New Delhi: The Supreme Court bench led by Justice NV Ramana on Thursday directed all the high courts to furnish details of criminal cases against MPs and MLAs in the format supplied by the apex court.
The chart was submitted to the court on Thursday and examined, after which Ramana asked the states to add one more column of expected date of completion of trial. The Kerala and Patna High Court were asked to produce 4 additional columns.
The High Courts' registrar general are directed to provide details to the court's amicus and the registrar general of the Supreme Court.
It also allowed impleadment application of former MP Atiq Ahmad in the case. Senior Advocate Sanjay Hegde said that Ahmad was aggrieved by the order of shifting him from UP to Gujarat jail.
The PIL filed by Advocate Ashwini Upadhyay who is also a BJP member, seeks setting up of special court to deal with cases related to MPs and MLAs.
