Ruckus erupts in Lok Sabha over J-K detentions

MEA in a written reply in Lok Sabha:

India is participating in the development of the first phase of Shahid Beheshti Port in Chabahar in cooperation with Iran. The Indian company, India Ports Global Ltd, has taken over port operations in December 2018 & has successfully handled over 5 lakh tons of cargo. This includes exports from Afghanistan through the Chabahar Port which began in February 2019. The U.S. has shown an understanding of the importance of the Chabahar Port operations for continued humanitarian supplies to Afghanistan and to provide Afghanistan with economic alternatives.

"It has been 6 months after the abrogation of Article 370 & Article 35A. According to official data, Kashmir witnessed 1999 stone pelting incidents in 2019 as compared to 1458 in 2018 and 1412 in 2017," Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said  in Lok Sabha.

"According to multiple intelligence reports, 400 militants are active in the valley, increasing the chances of insurgency," Adhir Ranjan said.

"Our Foreign Minister must clarify does Kashmir remain an internal matter even now? Kashmir is not accessible to us? " he questioned.

House takes up discussion on the motion of thanks on President's Address. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury dwelling on the Presidential address said, "Swami Vivekananda was a yogi but PM Narendra Modi is a 'bhogi'.

BJP MPs created ruckus following Chowdhury's remarks and urged the house speaker to expunge the statement.

Adhir Ranjan further called the BJP leaders as 'pseudo nationalists' and 'pseudo-Hindus'.  "You are carrying out surgical strikes against Gandhi's ideals," he said.

Ruckus ensues in Lok Sabha over the detention of J-K MP Farooq Abdullah. Congress Member of Parliament (MP) K Suresh had raised the issue of abrogation of article 370 and the detention of political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir. Opposition MP's chant 'Save democracy' and stage a walkout.

The house takes up matters of urgent public importance. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury takes up Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report on Siachen soldiers.

The report by the CAG, which was tabled in Parliament on Monday, pulled up the Army for the delay in procurement of clothing, equipment, snow goggles and multi-purpose boots that are required to be provided to soldiers serving in high altitude areas.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor raised the negligence of the center over the compensation to victims of Ockhi cyclone and fisherfolks in Thiruvanathapuram, Kerala.

Congress Member of Parliament (MP) K Suresh meanwhile gave adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha. The notice was submitted by K Suresh over the "abrogation of article 370 which has paved suspension of liberties, denial of fundamental freedom and political leadership to the people of J-K".

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tables bill which deals with dispute resolution with regards to Direct taxes. 

Meanwhile, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary opposes the bill claiming the nomenclature of the bill is 'language imposition' on non-Hindi speaking states.

The title of the bill is Direct Tax Vivad Se Vishwas bill, a combination of English and Hindi words.

Ram Mandir trust has been formed, says PM

Ram Mandir trust comes into existence

Ram Mandir trust, meant to oversee the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, gets cabinet clearance. The trust has been named 'Sri Ram Janambhoomi Tirath Kshetra' and will have function according to the detailed scheme created for the development of the temple. 

PM Modi addressing the Lok Sabha, stated that 67.7 acres of land have been handed over to the trust. 

"We have readied a scheme for the development of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. A trust has been formed, it is called 'Sri Ram Janambhoomi Tirath Kshetra," PM Modi said.

"After the verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi issue came out, the people of India displayed remarkable faith in democratic processes and procedures. I salute the 130 crore people of India," PM added.

New Delhi: The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday will introduce the Direct Tax Vivad Se Vishwas, Bill 2020 in the Lok Sabha. The Bill provides for resolution of disputes in direct tax, and was announced by the minister in the Budget for 2020-21.

The List of Business in the Lok Sabha will also see the continuation of the motion thanks on the President's address.

The Committee on the welfare of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) led by MP Tapir Gao will lay on the table the final action taken statement of the government on the recommendations pertaining to the reservation for and employment of SCs and STs in Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) of the Ministry of Defence.

The Committee on the welfare of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) led by MP Raesh Verma will present its second report on the measures undertaken to secure representation of OBCs in admissions and employment in Kendriya Vidyalayas/Sainik School/ Rashtriya Military Schools.
