RPF decimates illegal software "Real Mango", arrests 50 touts

Following a nationwide investigative drive against touting activities in railway passenger services, RPF has decimated an illegal software called "Real Mango". RPF has managed to arrest 50 accused including the chief system developer named Chandra Gupta and Business Manager of 'Real Mango' named Rahul Roy in connection with the scam.

New Delhi: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprehended 50 people including two main accused in connection with touting activities in railway passenger services by using an illegal software called "Real Mango".

RPF has succeeded to arrest Chandra Gupta, the chief system developer and Rahul Roy, Business Manager of 'Real Mango', said officials.

While conducting a nationwide investigative drive following the cases of touting after the resumption of passenger services in the post-lockdown era, RPF has blocked live tickets worth more than Rs 5 lakhs.

While addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Director General of Railway Protection Force (DG-RPF) Arun Kumar, said, "Operation of an illegal software called 'Rare Mango' was revealed on August 9, 2020, during that time action was taken against various touts by field units of RPF. The name of this software was later changed to 'Real Mango'. RPF units of North Central Railway, Eastern Railway and Western Railway apprehended some suspects and initiated the process of unravelling the operation of this software."

"It used to bypass V3 and V2 captcha, synchronize bank OTP with the help of a mobile app and feeds it to the requisite form automatically. The software used to auto-fill the passenger and payment details and even gets logged in to IRCTC website through multiple IDs," said Kumar.

"The money transaction was being done in fake Paytm account and further the same is converted into cryptocurrency. That cryptocurrency was being sold and the amount used to be transferred in multiple accounts into pieces which D-Link the connection between fake Paytm account and the original account," explained Arun Kumar.

During the nationwide lockdown, RPF had arrested a total number of 994 touts including 239 agents till August 31, while the future tickets of Rs 87.70 lakhs were blocked.

In its past actions, RPF had arrested 104 criminals and disruption of various illegal software, including, ANMS/Red Mirchi/Black TS, Tiktok, I-Ball, Red Bull, MAC etc, between December 2019 to March 2020. Future tickets worth Rs 9.92 crore were also blocked during the probe.
