Visakhapatnam(AP): David, a research scholar in zoology from Andhra University has spotted a rare fish identified as the 'golden mahseer' in Araku, Paderu area in Visakhapatnam District.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, David said: "This is called golden mahseer and it comes under endangered species. As of now, around 17 different types of fish of the same species are available."
"It is mostly found in the hilly terrains and we cannot catch them using traditional fishing methods," he said. "One has to check in the water bodies present inside deep forests," he added.
According to reports in the last five years, this kind of fish is found in north India but not in south India or eastern ghats, he claimed.
But, we found that it's found in the deep forests of Andhra-Odisha-Chhatisgarh border, he informed.
