New Delhi: A special investigation team of Punjab Police on Thursday conducted raids at former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini's house in Delhi. Saini is accused in 29-year-old case of alleged abduction and murder of former IAS officer's son Balwant Singh Multani. This case is related to the abduction of businessman Ashok Kumar and his two aides in 1994.

As per information, SIT team searched at four places in Delhi and a total of seven teams have been constituted by Punjab Police. The team also conducted raids at Panchsheel Park but Saini is still at large. Sumedh Singh Saini has 'Z' level security cover which has raised questions on Punjab Police.

Earlier, Punjab and Haryana high court had dismissed his petition seeking transfer of the case outside Punjab or hand over his case to Central Bureau of Investigation. Some opposition parties in the state have alleged that police is trying to shield Saini and helping him.

Earlier, on Thursday CBI court in New Delhi issued notice to him asking him why he should be exempted from personal appearance in court. Saini has to file reply by October 12. As per the latest updates, Saini has approached the Supreme court.
