Pulwama attack: Martyr's families wail, say 'wipe out life from Pak'

Hyderabad: The day when the rest of the world was busy expressing and spreading the message of love, an emotionally charged India was grieving the deaths of its 40 brave soldiers in Pulwama Jammu and Kashmir.

The day of 14th February saw the most condemnatory act by Pakistan which led to the death of nearly 40 CRPF personnel in Pulwama.

In one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir's three decades of militancy, a Jaish suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a CRPF bus in Pulwama district, killing at least 45 personnel and leaving many critically wounded.


As the country mourned the deaths of its brave soldiers family member of the slain CRPF jawans came out openly and demanded final action by Indian armed forces against Pakistan.

The martyrs who belong to different parts of India have left an indelible void. India is jolted and hearts left wounded.

"I don't want anything from the government in place of my son but they are not doing anything," said the father of Vijay Kumar Maurya in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh.

"They must take action against Pakistan. We urge the home minister to wipe out the name of Pakistan once for all," added the inconsolable father of Indian braveheart.

"We want a government of India to avenge the killing of Indian Jawans. There must be an eye for an eye" said Brother in the law of killed CRPF Jawan Pradeep Singh as his daughter cried out "papa aajao, papa aajao" at their village in Kannauj.

"My son has left behind his 5-yr-old small kid behind. The government must avenge the deaths of our boys," said Jaswant Singh father of deceased Jawan Jaimal Singh. Latter's wife and other women in family cried with demand for action against Pakistan at their residence Moga, Punjab.

"He left home on February 10 and was continuously talking to me on his way to rejoin his work. Government of India, Prime Minister and home minister would take the needed action but we want the government to attack Pakistan once for all so that our children do not have to face it again," said Om Prakash Tripathi father of Pankaj Tripathi as entire village in Maharajganj District of Uttar Pradesh mourned the death of its son.

"I have sacrificed one son in the service of Mother India and ready to send my two other sons in the service of the nation. I am also ready to jump on Pakistan soil from the helicopter and blow myself but we have to ensure that no life is left on Pak soil for next seven generations," cried Ram Niranjan Thakur, father of the deceased CRPF Jawan Ratan Thakur from Bhagalpur, Bihar.

House and neighbourhood of Killed CRPF jawan Bablu Santara in Hawra, Kolkata was no less charged as his inconsolable mother wailed and cried for her son to return and angry neighbours urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take stern action against Pakistan.

House of Bhagirathi Singh in Dholpur Rajasthan and Ramvakeel in Etawah District of Uttar Pradesh Pradesh was full of wailing. "You want to do lots and make hthe ouse for us but have left me alone. There is nothing without you" says the wife of Ramvakeel as she cried with her toddler son on the lap. "Papa, kya hua mere papa ko" (what happened to my father) cried the son of the deceased Jawan.

Disgust runs deep into India's soul. The brave martyrs died. The question here is, how many more braves will we have to sacrifice to stop terrorism.

What happened on 'Black Thursday'?

  • 3.30 am: As the Srinagar-Jammu highway had been shut for the last few days due to unfavourable weather conditions, CRPF decided to transport a total of 2,547 CRPF personnel at one go. The CRPF convoy of 78 vehicles started to Srinagar at 3.30 am.
  • According to reports, the entire route had been sanitised by the forces early in the morning. But, the officials allowed the movement of civilian vehicles.
  • 3.15 pm: After around 12 hours of safe journey, one of the blue bus carrying troopers was hit by a civilian vehicle used by suicide bomber Adil Ahmad Dar alias "Waqas Commando". Ahmad Dar used Mahindra Scorpio allegedly carrying more than 350 kg of explosives, reports added.
