New Delhi: Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to the nation, RJD leader and Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha said that the announcement regarding food grain scheme extension could have been done through a press release.
"With the current situation - right from the border to our daily lives, everyone had high hopes about the PM's address. But he only spoke about food grains. If that was the only thing he had to say, a press release would have sufficed. It would have been better that way," Jha said.
The RJD leader said that the Prime Minster's silence on the economic situation was baffling.
"A few opposition parties have been demanding a direct cash transfer of Rs 7-8,000 for non income tax-paying families, so that the flat demand-supply curve can see some change. But I can't understand the PM's silence on the issue," he said.
On the ongoing border tensions with China, Jha said that mere symbolism will not suffice.
"You resorted to symbolism by banning apps. But the country does not need symbols. It wants to know how deep have the Chinese intruded and how we are tackling the situation diplomatically," he said.
