PM Modi to address nation tomorrow on COVID-19

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on the prevailing COVID-19 situation and the measures taken to contain it. In a tweet, Prime Minister's Office said that PM Modi will address citizens at 10 am tomorrow.

Earlier, PM Modi held video conference with chief ministers primarily to take their feedback on whether the 21-nationwide lockdown be extended beyond April 14 to stem the tide of the infections.

The central government is understood to have also obtained views on the issue from all the relevant agencies and stakeholders involved in the efforts to contain the spread of the pandemic.

On March 19, he had called for resolve and restraint to fight coronavirus. He had also announced a 'Janta curfew' on March 22, a Sunday. On March 24, he had announced the 21-day nationwide lockdown to check the spread of the deadly virus.

In a video message on April 3, Modi had urged people to switch off the lights at their homes and light up lamps, candles or mobile phone torches for nine minutes at 9 pm on April 5 to display the country's "collective resolve" to defeat the coronavirus.
