New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Light House Projects (LHPs) under the Global Housing Technology Challenge-India (GHTC-India) via video conferencing on Friday.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also attended the function virtually.
Apart from the foundation stone laying, the state had been also awarded several accolades for its performance and swift as well as effective management of civic bodies.
The first award was given for the state's remarkable performance in the hilly and Himalayan states category. The second award went to Agartala Municipal Corporation and Belonia municipal council for running a good show.
Briefing the media on the sidelines of the programme, the Chief Minister said, "I want to wish each and every person of the state on this occasion when the state bagged three awards. The state had been awarded the best-performing state award."
Speaking on the light-house, he said, "These houses would be built using cutting edge technology developed in New Zealand. The Prime Minister has given respect to the poor and middle-class families of Tripura".
The Affordable Sustainable Housing Accelerators - India (ASHA-India) initiative aims to promote domestic research and entrepreneurship by providing incubation and acceleration support to potential future technologies.
Under the initiative, five ASHA-India Centers have been set up for providing incubation and acceleration support.
