Pakistan violates ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch

Poonch: Pakistan initiated ceasefire violation in Krishna Ghati Sector of Poonch district at about 10 pm on Thursday. Indian Army is retaliating.

Earlier in the day, using heavy firing and shelling on Thursday Pakistan violated ceasefire in many places on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

Colonel Devender Anand, Defence Ministry spokesman had said, "Pakistan initiated the unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along the LoC in many locations."

However, there was no report of any casualty on the Indian side. 

Earlier on September 5, Pakistani troops engaged in firing and intense mortar shelling in three sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch.

Pakistan has been violating the bilateral ceasefire on the LoC with impunity this year.

In over 2,730 such ceasefire violations so far, 24 civilians have been killed and over 100 injured.

Dozens of houses, heads of cattle and other civilian facilities have borne the brunt of Pakistan's hostilities along the LoC in J&K.
