New Delhi: Appreciating the efforts of India and its scientists for developing a COVID-19 vaccine in such a short span of time, Rajya Sabha member and BJP national spokesperson Zafar Islam launched a scathing attack on Congress for 'politicising' the vaccine issue. Islam, who is known for close proximity to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, said that there should be no politics over COVID-19 vaccine and accused the opposition parties of misleading the farmers on the agri-sector laws.
In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Zafar Islam said, "India's team of scientists and researchers have prepared a COVID-19 vaccine in such a short of time and questioning them is wrong. The world has heaped praises on India for its hard work but opposition parties are raising questions on indigenous COVID-19 vaccines. The opposition parties should stop politicising the matter."
Adding that PM Modi has chaired several meetings with chief ministers to review the preparedness of COVID-19 vaccine, Islam asserted that all the opposition parties must come together and strive to make India COVID free.

"COVID-19 is a sensitive issue and opposition parties must behave in a dignified manner to help the Central government to fight the deadly virus," he added.
He said that India has played a major role in producing COVID-19 vaccine as compared to other countries which will benefit us in the long run.
Assuring that the government is ready for amendments in the farm laws, the BJP leader said that a dialogue between the farmers' union and the government is needed to resolve the deadlock. He said that despite eight round of talks between the two parties, the opposition is leaving no stone unturned to attack the government.
He also said that there will be no change in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system and expressed hope for protests to end soon.
