Intro:New Delhi: The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition seeking stay on the release of a biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Body:Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, heading the bench which heard the matter, said that the petition could not be entertained because the Censor Board has not even certified the movie.

Senior Advocate Abhishek MANU Singhvi, representative of petitioner Aman Panwar, submitted in the court that Vivek Oberoi who plays Modi in the movie is a star campaigner for BJP and the music played in the biopic is same used by the party in the campaigns.

However, the bench decided that the Election Commission of India needs to take a call on whether the film should release or not. It added," It is for the EC to also examine whether the screening can violate the Model Code of Conduct."

Conclusion:The biopic was earlier supposed to release on April 5th and it has already garnered huge controversies on the social media.
