"We won't need an aircraft but please ensure use the freedom to travel and meet the people, mainstream leaders and our soldiers stationed over there," Gandhi tweeted.
The Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday night said that the situation in the state was peaceful and no untoward incident has been reported in last one week.
The police was asked about the situation in the state after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi told mediapersons in New Delhi that situation was "very wrong".
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had earlier refuted a Reuters report on protests in Kashmir due to modification of Article 370 and called it "fabricated" and "incorrect."
Besides, editor of a prominent daily from Jammu and Kashmir has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking removal of restrictions imposed on working of journalists in the Union Territory after scrapping provisions of Article 370.
Jammu and Kashmir was put under complete lockdown on August 11, a day before the government of India modified Article 370 that gave special status to the state.
