NCW writes to Maha DGP to take action against TikTok user 'glorifying' acid attack

Taking cognisance of a TikTok video going viral of social media wherein a man supposedly ‘glorifies’ acid attack on women the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Monday wrote to the Maharashtra DGP seeking action while requesting TikTok India to block the person from the platform. Following NCW’s request, TikTok India has deleted the video from its platform.

Maharashtra: The National Commission for Women on Monday took cognisance of a TikTok video going viral of social media wherein a man supposedly ‘glorifies’ acid attack on women and wrote to the Maharashtra DGP seeking action while requesting TikTok India to block the person from the platform.

Following NCW’s request, TikTok India has deleted the video from its platform.

The man in the video has been identified as Faizal Siddiqui, a TikTok user who has over 13 million followers. Siddiqui had posted a video on TikTok, where he can be seen throwing a liquid substance on girl, who is wearing makeup similar to burn marks.

The NCW swung into action after the video went viral and people started demanding action against Siddiqui, following which NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma tweeted that has written to the Maharashtra DGP as well as TikTok India demanding action.
