New Delhi: Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Friday said that modification of provisions in Article 370 is a right step for the betterment of people in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Union Minister said the people from the valley will be connected to the main process of development following the move.
"The process was long overdue and the current government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi achieved this remarkable feat," he said.
Besides, talking about the current situation in the valley, Tomar claimed that normalcy will return to the valley.
Kashmir has been on lockdown since Sunday and all communication services in the region have been blocked, including cellular network, landline, mobile internet, and broadband connectivity.
The valley has been under heavy security cover for several days following a reported terror threat and modification of provisions of Article 370.
Parliament had earlier approved a resolution abrogating special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution and a Bill for splitting the state into two Union Territories.
