Ministry of Ayush to take care of 12500 centres

Ministry of Ayush announced today that 12,500 Health and wellness centres will be taken care by it across the country in consultation with all the states and union territories. Minister of State for Ayush, Shripad Yesso Naik said that PM Modi had entrusted Ministry of Ayush of handling 10% of all the health and wellness centres and this announcement is in response to that.

Talking about the new initiatives of Ministry of Ayush, Naik said that preventive and primitive health care and school health program will be the focus of the ministry. Delivery of the best affordable health care facilities particularly to the vulnerable section is the priority for the government, he added.

Rajeev Kumar, Vice Chairman of Niti Ayog said that "the ball is in our court and we have to prove that we can meet expectations ". Talking about the need for Ayush, he said that only genuinely qualified should be allowed to practice. He also said that misleading advertisements needs to get rid off .

VK Kaul, a Niti Ayog member, said that schools have 10% of students suffering from obesity and in cities it is 20%. Psychological issues, pre diabetic, suicidal tendencies are also major problems in young population, he added. Stressing on the need of engaging students in Ayush, he said we need India's future to be healthy and not getting heart attack at the age of 37. He also stressed schools to have a Ayush kit.

Focussing on the requirements of resources, Kaul said that research in Ayush suffers from lack of resources and the state governments should provide funds and all the adequate resources.

Minister of State for Ayush, Shripad Yesso Naik, chaired a conference for state Ayush/Health ministers. This was the fourth edition of the conference to discuss various schemes under Ayush and the action plan for it. Rajeev Kumar, Vice Chairman of Niti Ayog was the chief guest for the conference.
