New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday decided to deploy 100 additional companies of paramilitary forces in Jammu and Kashmir with immediate effect. The fax was sent to the Jammu and Kashmir chief secretary, the state home secretary and the director general of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
“We have to urgently deploy additional CAPFs in Jammu and Kashmir. It is requested to provide 100 Coys of CAPFs to Govt of J&K with immediate effect and till further orders. IG CRPF is requested to ensure immediate movement of forces in coordination with IG (Ops) of all forces,” the urgent fax order issued by the home ministry said.
However, according to sources, "Demand for deployment of more company of paramilitary forces also includes those soldiers of BSF, CRPF, and ITBP who were already deployed for panchayat elections in the valley. Earlier, we had to call them back but now it's been decided to stop them their only."

In paramilitary forces, generally, one company is equal to 95-120 troopers. But, the number depends on the type of force, size of the company and the place where the soldiers have to be deployed.
The action comes eight days after Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) attacked a CRPF convoy in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the death of over 40 jawans.
