Karsog(Himachal Pradesh): The advent of new technology has made us discard a lot of superstition and rituals which we may not find practical anymore. However, there are still many whose beliefs and faith which cannot be changed. One such example is Mata Jogani Temple situated in Karsog area of Mandi where it is claimed that every disease is cured. It is believed that patients who are not satisfied with big hospitals and doctors come to Mata Jogani's temple for their treatment.
Also known as the Dev Bhoomi, people of Himachal region believe that every grief and disease can be cured with God's grace. People from far and wide come to Mata Jogani's temple and offer prayers to her. According to sources, people pray to Jogani Mata looking for a cure to every disease.

It is believed that every disease is treated at the abode of the mother and when the patient is cured, he prepares offerings from flour and jaggery in the temple and offers it to the mother. According to the local people, when the prasad is being prepared, the temple witnesses a huge flock of crows which is a very rare sight. Locals believe that crows symbolize the happiness of the mother because, on the normal days, there is no visible sign of crows. Crows are considered to be the messengers of Goddess Jogani Devi and after giving bhog to Jogani Mata, crows are fed too.
''Well-known physicians failed to cure the epidemic spread in the area centuries ago which killed thousands of people. It is believed that at that time, Mahanag Kakno told Jogani Mata to eradicate the disease. The epidemic was wiped out due to the power of Jogani Mata following which Nag Devta asked Mata Jogani to stay with him. But, Mata chose to live in a small cave in a small hill in Sharanishreyo. This cave has many hidden secrets'', said a local.
