Mangalore (Karnataka): While the coronavirus-induced lockdown has left many at their wits' end, it has also brought out the best in many.
Dayanand, a young man from Puttur area of Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district, has built three fibre ladders of five, 10 and 20 feet height respectively.
These ladders are now being used for a range of activities including scaling tall areca nut as well as coconut trees and climbing electric poles for repair work among other things.

Weighing not more than 20 kilograms, the Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (MESCOM) vouches for the ladders built by Dayanand as being shock-free.
The fibre ladders have been made commercially available and Dayanand says that the demand for such ladders is higher compared to those made of aluminium and wood.
