Wayanad: Kerala Police on Friday booked a man for mowing down on a labourer after he was intervened by the latter not to go ahead on a tarred road. The victim Rajesh miraculously escaped in the accident sustaining minor injuries.
The accused Edayerikkandi Mohammed Ashkar (28) is a native of Kallachi in Wayanad.
The incident happened at Moolithodu Ayilamoola Road in Wayanad District of Kerala on Wednesday. As the road tarring works were on, the vehicular traffic was banned temporarily on the road here and barricades were installed to prevent vehicular entry to the road.
Ashkar, who came by in a car, was stopped by labourers and local people. This provoked Ashkar and an argument broke out between him and the locals who tried to prevent him to drive further.

Irked Ashkar suddenly started the car and mowed down on Rajesh who was standing nearby. In the video, Rajesh can be seen clinging to the bonnet of the car and the car kept moving. After moving for about 70 metres while hanging from the bonnet, Rajeesh fell off on the road and the car sped away.
Rajeesh escaped miraculously from the accident with minor injuries and bruises. The police, after examining the CCTV visuals, registered a case and booked Ashkar under IPC Section 307 attempt to murder and have arrested him. The local people who had followed Ashkar vandalised the car.
