Maan ki Baat: Congress slams PM Modi, asks why is he afraid of China

Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that PM should not be afraid of China and should address the nation about the Chinese intrusion into the Indian territory.

New Delhi: Congress on Sunday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his recent programme 'Mann ki Baat' for not even mentioning China in his entire address, adding that PM should not be 'afraid' of China.

In a video message, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Congress Chief Spokesperson, said, "33 minutes of 'Mann ki Baat' but not even a single mention of China. Why is he scared of China? Now, the time has come that Prime Minister of strong India should strongly act against China."

He added, "Stand with our armed forces, support them, empower them and get ready to repulse them from our territory. Because this is the true patriotism."The statement of the Congress leader came after PM Modi in his today's 'Mann ki Baat' mentioned about the violent standoff between Indian and Chinese troops at Ladakh's Galwan Valley.

Modi said, "Those who eyed Indian territory in Laddakh have received a befitting response."

Taking it to Twitter, Surjewala said, "Time for Delhi to reset its strategic calculus. Time to shed the fears, be bold and tactical and adopt a strategic response to decisively repulse the Chinese intrusions."
