Kottayam: A lottery ticket seller from Kottayam district of Kerala has been waging a one man’s battle against COVID pandemic in his own ways. C G Krishnakumar, who sells lottery tickets for a living, aims at creating awareness about COVID pandemic at a time when the State is moving onto the next level of transmission, going by the number of contact spread cases.

Krishnakumar whitewashes the plain public walls, mixes paints and writes awareness messages on the walls in his own campaign to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus infection. He has already covered most public areas in the district with his one man’s campaign to spread awareness among the public.

He had turned to lottery ticket selling when he lost his only means of income - billboard writing - with the boom of flex boards and digital printing of hoardings. With COVID, Krishnakumar decides to use the little savings that he had raised from the meagre income he gets from selling lottery tickets, for the cause of COVID campaigning.

Though he wishes he could reach out to all public places with his campaign messages in and out of the district, his financial status does not permit him to do the same. However, Krishnakumar does not give up. He says he will keep spreading awareness messages on checking the spread of COVID in whatever ways he can.
