New Delhi: Three days after a masked mob armed with sticks and rods attacked Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students and teachers inside the campus, the government sources on Wednesday said that Delhi Police have identified the people behind the violence and their identity will be cracked soon.
Union Home Ministry sources, on the conditions of anonymity, said, "Delhi Police has identified some masked men who attacked JNU students on Sunday. Police have got the vital leads about the identity of masked persons and they are on the verge of cracking the case."
The police personnel are now on extra alert. The heavy police force is deployed at JNU campus and policemen in civil clothes are inside the university, added MHA sources.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has already spoken to Delhi police commissioner over the violence and ordered a joint CP-level inquiry.
On Sunday, over 35 people, including Jawaharlal Nehru Student Union (JNUSU) president Aishe Ghosh, were injured after a group of masked men barged into the JNU campus and attacked them.
