Dhanbad: There seems to be no end to the water crisis faced by the residents of Ratanpur panchayat, as the water pipelines, which have been laid 2.5 years ago, have still not carried water to the village. More than 7000 people in the panchayat remain effected due to the worsening situation.
Besides the water issues, the village does not have a proper drainage system. Commenting on the lapses in the village, the sarpanch claimed that the drainage system was not planned as the Dhanbad MP Pashupatinath Singh opined that villagers might throw garbages in it and the sewage would get blocked.
In Ratanpur panchayat of Govindpur block, there are five villages including Bena Garrar, Kapasada, Jiramudi, Kumardih and Kusmatang village.
On the other hand, locals expressed fear over drying up of the only pond in the village, even before the onset of summer. They have been worried over their sustenance, with very little water left for them.
Following the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dhanbad MP Pashupatinath Singh had adopted Ratanpur panchayat. The villagers had high hopes that their village would progress and overcome their problems. However, the fate of this village has not changed.
Though, he had constructed roads in Ratanpur, the scenario of the village needs to be changed.
About 29 schemes were planned for the development of the village, however, only two-three schemes were implemented by the government.
