Jaipur (Rajasthan): On May 13 in 2008, Jaipur witnessed one of the scariest and bloodiest evenings in its history when at 7:10 PM a series of 8 consecutive bomb blasts rocked one of the famous tourist destinations which killed 71 people and injured 150 others.
Today on 13 May 2020 one of the most horrific and terrific acts carried out by terrorists completes 12 years, the act which shattered the heart of Jaipur.
The first blast took place outside the Hanuman temple at Sanganeri Gate. More than 14 people standing outside the temple died tragically. However, it was a matter of satisfaction that all the devotees present inside the temple remained safe.
After this, there were continuous blasts at Badi Chaupar, Johari Bazaar, Chhoti Chaupar, Manak Chowk police station area, Kotwali area and Tripolia market.
The special court convicted the four accused who were subsequently awarded death sentence for placing bombs at various places; Mohammad Saif near the Manak Chowk police station, Saifur Rahman in a flower pot, Salman near the Sanganeri Gate Hanuman temple and Sarwar Azmi for placing the bomb near the Chandpol Hanuman temple.
The four people who carried out the serial bomb blasts, Mohammad Saif alias Carion, Mohammad Salman, Mohammad Sarwar Azmi and Saifur alias Saifur Rahman, were sentenced to death by the special court on December 20, 2019 after 11 years and 7 days.
Apart from these four accused, Sajid Bada, Mohammad Khalid and Shadab are absconding. While the mastermind of the case Mohammad Atif and Chhota Sajid were killed in the Batla House encounter Ariz alias Junaid, Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi and Ahmed Siddi alias Yasin Bhatkal are in jail.
People of the pink city are waiting for the convicts to be hanged. The state government has also presented a 'death reference' in the High Court to confirm the punishment.
