Srinagar: Two soldiers were killed as Pakistani army violated ceasefire in Naugam sector along the Line of Control (LoC) of north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Thursday morning.
“Initiated an unprovoked Ceasefire Violation along LoC in Naugam sector, Kupwara today (Thursday) morning by firing mortars and other weapons. Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively,” defence spokesman Lt Col Rajesh Kalia said.
“However, in the exchange of fire, Havaldar Kuldeep of 15 Sikh Light Infantry and Rifleman Shubham of 8 JAK Rifles were killed. Four other soldiers who were injured are being evacuated,” the spokesman added.
This comes a day after an Army Jawan was killed and another injured following a ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Mankote and Krishna Ghati sectors along LoC.
"The general officer commanding of the White Knight Corps and all ranks salute braveheart Lance Naik Karnail Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice in the Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district on the night of September 30 and offer condolences to his family," Army had said.
