New Delhi: As a part of BJP's Vyapak Jansampark and Jan Jagran Abhiyan Minister of State Hardeep Singh Puri, BJP leader Satish Upadhyay reached Trilochan Singh's place. Trilochan Singh is former Rajya Sabha MP and former chairperson of minority commission. The Jan Jagran Abhiyan by BJP is focused on making people aware of the abrogation of article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
While talking exclusively to Etv Bharat Satish Upadhayay said, "As part of Sampark Abhiyan and Jan Jagran Abhiyan we have met Trilochan Singh and he has supported the move by Union govt to abrogate article 370. We want prominent people should tell masses about this."
Trilochan Singh said that Sikhs have always stood up for the nation. The first batch of soldiers in 1948 were Sikhs from Patiala Royal army. They fought for the country. In 1965 during Indo - Pakistani war, when the ceasefire was declared the soldiers were against, the PoK could have been taken back.
"In 1978 Sikhs were declared minority but Jammu Kashmir never acknowledged Sikhs as a minority. Sikhs have always suffered there. As minority commission chairman I met J&K CMs but Sikhs were never added to minority list. Even those who came from PoK to J&K never got citizenship. The nation is above everything and Sikhs have always sacrificed for India. Abrogation of 370 is a welcome move and it will help Sikhs in the state," Singh said.
