ITBP gears up as fresh batch of Indians arrive at Chawala camp

At least more than 130 Indians are expected to arrive at The Indo Tibetan Border Police from China as to make them quarantine at its Chawla camp. Around 25 doctors have been kept to take special care of these people. Even State Council of China has decided to postpone the next semester for Indian students enrolled in Chinese universities.

New Delhi: The Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is all set to receive the next batch of Indians coming from China and make them quarantine at its Chawla camp in New Delhi.

In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat on Thursday, sources in ITBP told that the next batch of Indians consisting of more than 130 people is likely to arrive in New Delhi on Friday.

"The process of disinfecting and fumigation has already been started by ITBP doctors and team at Chawala camp," they said.

On Wednesday ITBP has dispatched all 406 people including 7 Maldivians who were under quarantine for over a fortnight after being evacuated from Wuhan. Sources said that as many as 25 doctors are being assigned to look after these people coming from China.

"The team of doctors comprises from ITBP, BSF CRPF and SSB. AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital have also sent few doctors for the entire exercise," sources said.

Apart from a single entry and exit point for people at Chawla camp, there will be a special room for children and kids at Chawla camp.

After the successful management of ITBP Quarantine faculty for evacuating 406 people evacuated from Wuhan in China, ITBP Director General SS Deswal has awarded ITBP officials who managed the Quarantine facility from February 1 to 19.

State Council of China has decided to postpone the next semester for Indian students enrolled in Chinese universities after India raised concern about the future of Indian students studying in China.

The development took place after Union Health Secretary Preeti Sudan had requested the Chinese Ambassador to look into this matter after Universities in China gave been urging Indian students to join soon as the new semester is about to begin.
