India should have better financial management; must learn from 'ruined' neighbour

Speaking at an award ceremony in New Delhi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that wrong policies and 'excessive militarisation' have made a bad impact on Pakistan and its economy.

New Delhi: Cautioning that India as an emerging economy must learn from mistakes of Pakistan, whose Prime Minister Imran khan had to travel by commercial flight to the US for political meetings, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said India as an emerging economy must have "better financial management".

Speaking at an award ceremony of Defence Accounts Department, the minister said the "excessive militarisation" and "wrong policies" of Pakistan have ruined it.

"For emerging economy like India, there is a need for better financial management. We have a living example in our neighbourhood," he said.

Touching upon the issue of Pakistan funding terror activities on its soil, the minister said, “The international agency Financial Action Task Force (FATF) can anytime blacklist Pakistan for terror funding.”

Speaking at the award ceremony of Defence Accounts Department here, Mr Singh said, “Emerging economy like India, there is need of having better financial management. There is a living example in our neighbourhood. Because of their focus on excessive militarisation and wrong policies without financial progress, the situation has led for the neighbouring country prime minister to make arrangement for a plane to attend a global event.”

On proving funding for terror activities, the minister said, “The international agency FATF can anytime blacklist Pakistan for terror funding.”
