Indore: An Election Commission (EC) team will be on a three-day-tour in West Bengal from Thursday, during which they will be holding meetings regarding assembly polls due next year in the state. West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar has also submitted his report to Union Home Minister Amit Shah stating that law and order situation of the state has been continuously worsening.
In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Bengal BJP in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya said, "The Central govt is making efforts to curb the increasing incidences of violence in Bengal. We have also appealed to the Election Commission to ensure that free and fair elections happen in the state. An EC team is in Bengal to review the situation. Either President's rule should be imposed in Bengal or the state elections must be held under the purview of the Central government. If police is involved, then fair polls are not possible."
Asked about Banerjee's response on the attack on JP Nadda's convoy as 'nautanki', senior BJP leader said, "People of Bengal and media have given a reply to this. TMC workers created ruckus when Nadda's convoy was heading towards Diamond Harbour. This is unacceptable."
Vijayvargiya added, "Congress and Left parties are trying to revive their fortunes in Bengal."
Days after vehicles of senior BJP leaders JP Nadda and Kailash Vijayvargiya's convoys were allegedly attacked in West Bengal, BJP delegation raised the issue of law and order situation in the state with Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora. BJP has alleged that TMC is behind these attacks.
