1. PM to review status of COVID response, management in 7 high focus states, UTs today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a high-level virtual meeting with the Chief Ministers and Health Ministers of seven COVID high burden States/Union Territories (UT) today to review the status and preparedness of COVID response and management. These states and the UTs are Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, and Punjab.
2. Lok Sabha to meet at 6 pm today
Lok Sabha will meet on Wednesday at 6 pm instead of the usual time of 4 pm. The House has been meeting at 4 pm during the monsoon session of parliament except on the first day. Speaker Om Birla informed the members about the change of timings in the House on Tuesday. Both the Houses have been holding their sittings after observing protocols in the fight against COVID-19.
3. Facebook India VP approaches SC against Delhi Assembly panel's notice, hearing today
The Supreme Court on Wednesday will hear the pleas filed by Facebook, its India Vice President (VP) and Managing Director (MD) Ajit Mohan and others against the notice issued by the Delhi Legislative Assembly for deposing before it on September 23. Facebook, Mohan, and others had filed the plea in the top court against a notice issued by Delhi Assembly's Peace and Harmony Committee to appear before it for its alleged role in the Delhi violence in February.
4. India, Australia to conduct 2-day naval exercise in Indian ocean from today
The Indian Navy is scheduled to undertake a two-day Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Royal Australian Navy in the East Indian Ocean Region (IOR) from today. The exercise would involve the participation of HMAS Hobart from the Australian side and Indian Naval Ships Sahyadri and Karmuk.
