IB officer Ankit Sharma stabbed 12 times, says autopsy report

Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma post-mortem report reveals that he died to due to deep injuries on his body. The autopsy report says that he was stabbed 12 times and there were 45 injuries to his body.

New Delhi: The postmortem report of the Intelligence Bureau(IB) staffer Ankit Sharma, who was murdered during the north-east Delhi violence, has revealed that he died due to deep and grievous injuries on his lungs and brain. Postmortem report reveals that there were 45 injuries to his body.

The report further reveals that that the officer was attacked with sharp and blunt weapons. Earlier, there was a speculation that the IB officer was stabbed 400 times but now his post-mortem report says that 12 of these injuries are caused by knives.

"Cause of death was shock due to haemorrhage due to injuries to he lungs and brain. Some wounds were produced by sharp-edged weapons. An injury was produced by heavy cutting weapons, while rest of the injuries were by blunt force. All injuries were fresh before death," the report read.

According to forensic experts, wounds of the IB officer were fresh before his death and he died after receiving these injuries. Even his head was succumbed with heavy injuries as he was attacked with a sharp weapon.

Notably, a Delhi court on Friday sent Salman, an accused in the murder of Ankit Sharma, to four days police custody. On Thursday, Delhi cops had apprehended him in connection with the murder of the Intelligence Bureau officer.

At least, 53 people including Ankit Sharma and head constable Ratan Lal were killed during the violence in the national capital. (With inputs from ANI)
