Jorhat: The Indian Airforce on Thursday conducted a Wreath-laying ceremony for the 13 brave air-warriors who lost their lives during the AN-32 crash.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) had earlier recovered the mortal remains of personnel killed in AN-32 plane crash.
The AN-32 aircraft with 13 IAF personnel onboard went missing on May 3 after getting airborne from Jorhat. The aircraft was headed towards Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground in Arunachal Pradesh when it lost contact with ground authorities.
Later, the wreckage of the plane was located 16 km north of Lipo at an elevation of 12000 feet by Mi-17 choppers of the IAF undertaking search operations in the expanded search zone.
The mortal remains will be sent to their hometown, where funeral as per service customs will be carried out.
"The Indian Air Force stands with the families and next-of-kin of all the air-warriors who lost their lives in the line of duty," the IAF said.
The force also thanked the Indian Army, Indian Navy, NTRO, State administration and civil population for their unstinted support during search and rescue operations.
