Hyderabad: A cow, which had fallen into a septic tank in Allwyn colony near Chandanagar, was rescued after 10 days by the Disaster Rescue Team of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Wednesday.
The septic tank had no compound wall and protective cover (lid), which further lead to the animal falling into the pit. It remained in the septic tank for 10 days, as no one filed a complaint in the connection.
However, the incident came to light after the locals informed the Disaster Rescue Team about the incident. Following the complaint, the team immediately swung into action and rescued the cow.
"Unfortunately, a cow fell into the septic tank. The locals, today, noticed the animal and informed us. It was a difficult task to rescue her as the tank was around 10-feet deep and was without food and water. However, with all our efforts, we have rescued the cow," GHMC officials told the media.
The cattle became very lean and weak as it was deprived of food and water for 10 days.It was provided with some fodder and water and was later shifted it to a nearby veterinary hospital for treatment.
The higher officials have appreciated the Disaster Rescue Team for its work.
