New Delhi: India-specific enhancements in Rafale will make it a lethal platform, Defence analyst Major General PK Sehgal said on Thursday.
Rafale has been formally inducted into the Indian Air Force and is considered one of the biggest acquisitions by India in the defence sector.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh participated in the induction ceremony in France on the occasion of Air Force Day on Tuesday.
The Rafale aircraft is considered to be a game-changer and will provide India with an edge over other countries as far as air power is considered.
In an interaction with ETV Bharat, Defence analyst Major General PK Sehgal said, "Enhancements involve improving the flying capability of the aircraft but with better avionics. Israeli head-up display is a new type of glass cockpit which gives a pilot a complete picture of what is happening in the battle area."
"Better radar with a much greater detection capability thereby enhancing its beyond-visual range detection and attack capability. It has got India-specific electronic suite to make the aircraft not easily visible on the enemy radar," he added.
Sehgal went on to say, "Rafale will also have Meteor missile which is considered to be finest as beyond visual range is concerned. It also has scalpe cruise missile which has the capability to hit from air to ground."
