Pouring tribute to former President of India, Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also condoled the demise of Pranab Mukharjee as loss of a great friend.

"I am deeply saddened by the news of passing away of former President of India H.E. Pranab Mukharjee. Heartfelt condolences to the government and people of India as well as the bereaved family members," PM Oli tweeted on Monday evening. 

"In his demise, Nepal has lost a great friend. We remember his contributions in strengthening Nepal-India relations in different capacities of his public life," Prime Minister Oli tweeted condoling the demise of Bharat Ratna 2019.

Expressing grief over the demise of former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said the country has lost a good friend. 

"I am saddened by the tragic death of former President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee today. On behalf of the Nepali people, the Government of Nepal and myself, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the people of India, the Government of India and the bereaved families. Since his death, Nepal has lost a good friend," President Bhandari tweeted.

Kerala Governor condoles Pranab Mukherjee's demise

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Monday paid tribute to former President Pranab Mukherjee by calling the late leader an "exceptional statesman" with unparalleled experience in administration and parliamentary proceedings.

"He was an exceptional statesman with unparalleled experience in administration and parliamentary proceedings. A true Bharat Ratna," the governor said in a statement. 

He further said that the former president was "the embodiment of the Indian ideal, 'ever devoted to the pursuit of knowledge'. This is what made him so capable to handle difficult situations". 

"Pranab Mukherjee was a scholar who strayed into politics. He symbolised the values of Indian Renaissance which started in Bengal. Those values reflected in his personality. My heartfelt condolence," Khan said.

Indian Army on Monday paid tributes to former President Pranab Mukherjee, who passed away earlier in the day.

Yoga guru Ramdev on Monday said that former president Pranab Mukherjee gave a new direction to Indian politics and his demise was an irreparable loss for the country.

"I developed a deep personal bond with Pranab Mukherjee since he received me at the airport when I was to start a movement against black money, corruption and for system change in 2011. It continued till date. This is an irreparable loss. His work will continue to guide the country," Ramdev told a  news agency.

Pranab Mukherjee played significant role in upholding India's prestige at international level: Kerala CM

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has extended his condolences after Congress veteran and former Indian president Pranab Mukherjee passed away at Delhi hospital on Monday.

Vijayan said that Pranab Mukherjee was a politician "who played a significant role in upholding India's prestige at the international level".

"He stood for the protection and empowerment of constitutional values and constantly strived to inculcate values in the society, including secularism. Whenever he handled important departments such as finance and defence, he was able to elevate them to a remarkable level with his extraordinary personality," Vijayan said in a statement.

Pranab Mukherjee was a staunch supporter of Nehruvian political culture and played a leading role in spreading the light of scientific logic and fighting against superstitions in society, Vijayan said.

"Mukherjee's contributions as an eminent parliamentarian and eloquent speaker will always be remembered. He maintained a deep and friendly relationship with Kerala and the Malayalees," Vijayan added.

Election Commission of India has mourned the passing away of Former President Pranab Mukherjee.

Expressing grief, Chief Election Commissioner  Sunil Arora said: "In his demise, the nation has lost a widely respected savant and a Rajrishi known for his encyclopaedic knowledge of economic, constitutional and historical affairs."  

Recalling Pranab Mukherjee's specific association with  Election Commission of India, CEC Sh Arora said despite failing health Pranab Mukherjee had graciously accepted ECI's invitation and delivered the first Sukumar Sen Memorial Lecture, organised by ECI on 23rd January 2020. Mukherjee, as President of the republic, had addressed ECI's National Voters Day event twice in 2016 and 2017.  

"May God give his family the strength to bear this irreparable loss", Sh Arora added.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has extended his condolences after Congress veteran and former Indian president Pranab Mukherjee passed away at Delhi hospital on Monday.

Vijayan said that Pranab Mukherjee was a politician "who played a significant role in upholding India's prestige at the international level".

"He stood for the protection and empowerment of constitutional values and constantly strived to inculcate values in the society, including secularism. Whenever he handled important departments such as finance and defence, he was able to elevate them to a remarkable level with his extraordinary personality," Vijayan said in a statement.

Pranab Mukherjee was a staunch supporter of Nehruvian political culture and played a leading role in spreading the light of scientific logic and fighting against superstitions in society, Vijayan said.

"Mukherjee's contributions as an eminent parliamentarian and eloquent speaker will always be remembered. He maintained a deep and friendly relationship with Kerala and the Malayalees," Vijayan added.

Election Commission of India has mourned the passing away of Former President Pranab Mukherjee.

Expressing grief, Chief Election Commissioner  Sunil Arora said: "In his demise, the nation has lost a widely respected savant and a Rajrishi known for his encyclopaedic knowledge of economic, constitutional and historical affairs."  

Recalling Pranab Mukherjee's specific association with  Election Commission of India, CEC Sh Arora said despite failing health Pranab Mukherjee had graciously accepted ECI's invitation and delivered the first Sukumar Sen Memorial Lecture, organised by ECI on 23rd January 2020. Mukherjee, as President of the republic, had addressed ECI's National Voters Day event twice in 2016 and 2017.  

"May God give his family the strength to bear this irreparable loss", Sh Arora added.
