Fire breaks out at COVID ward of Vadodara’s SSG hospital

Vadodara: A major fire broke out in COVID-19 ward of civic-run SSG hospital in Vadodara on Tuesday evening. According to the preliminary reports, the cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit.

While no casualties have been reported yet, fire fighting operations are underway to bring the situation under control.

As per the latest development, the fire has brought under the control and the patients have been shifted to other hospitals.

Earlier on August 6, as many as eight patients were killed after a fire broke out at a private COVID-19 designated hospital in Ahmedabad. The eight patients who died were admitted in the ICU ward of the hospital and the victims include five men and three women.

Gujarat has reported new 1,295 COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths in the last 24 hours, said Health Department, Gujarat. State tally rises to 1,06,006 including 16,366 active cases, 85,546 cured/discharged and 3,120 deaths, State Health Department informed.
