New Delhi: Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Tribal Affairs minister Arjun Munda were two of the many personalities who attended the workshop on 'Strategies for Promoting and Marketing of Tribal Products' organised by TRIFED under Ministry of Tribal Affairs in Delhi today.
MoS for Tribal Affairs minister Renuka Singh, TRIFED chairperson R.C. Meena, and Managing Director Pravir Krishna also graced the event.
While addressing the workshop, Piyush Goyal asked for cooperation in expanding domestic and global markets for the popularisation of tribal products.
The minister added that the government is enthusiastic towards promoting products made in India through various means.
In an interaction with the participants of the workshop, minister Arjun Munda said: "TRIFED has evolved into a family of financially and economically active group of tribals consisting of craftsmen, craftswomen and micro-entrepreneurs."
Munda also stressed the importance of expanding the tribal market to a greater horizon.
He said that the expansion of the tribal market has a lot of scope and that the need is to work towards it adding that "it may generate a lot of employment opportunities in the future."
Representatives from FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM, advertising agencies, the fashion industry and the government were the participants in the event.
The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India is aiming at associating itself with design institutes like NIFT and NID to improve the marketability of tribal products.
