During its 5-year tenure, the BJP-led central government used the policy of disinvestment and additional borrowing to stimulate the economy, when the revenues were stagnating.

This has become a hurdle for the Congress party to achieve their poll promise of filling 4 lakh job vacancies by March 2020.
