ETV Bharat special: Woman officials are real heroes amid lockdown

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, woman officials are playing an important role to combat the disease. ETV Bharat team reached to the woman officials of Karnataka and discussed how they are looking after their family while performing the duty.

Belgaum (Karnataka): Woman officials are playing a very crucial role amid the COVID-19 pandemic across the nation.

On the occasion of Mother's Day, ETV Bharat team reached to the woman officials of Karnataka's Belgaum who are working hard to control the deadly disease keeping their life at risk.

47 people have been affected in Hirebagewadi village in Taluk, which falls under the Belgaum district.

The District Police officials especially the Woman's are doing day-night duty amid the lockdown.

City Law and Order DCP Seema Lotkar while speaking to ETV Bharat said, "I have two daughters aged 10 and 5. Just for my children's safety, I am living in a separate room from two months and going duty from the back door of the house. I didn't meet my children from two months."

"Our role is important in building a healthy society," she added.

Another lady, Yashodha Vantagoodi, the DCP of the city's crime branch, also has one and a half-year-old son and five-year-old daughter, she said speaking to ETV Bharat.

"I go home in fear after performing my duty", Yashodha said.

Sunanda Korepura, a staff nurse from Belagavi in Karnataka, left her home for 21 days to perform a duty, couldn't see her daughter Aishwarya.

While sharing the experience with ETV Bharat, Sunanda said, "Whenever I got chance, I go home to see my daughter, as this is the only option left for us. Seeing me, my daughter also used to cry."

She says she was strengthened by state CM B.S. Yeddyurappa's phone call and is now working in an emergency ward.

Thus, many women staff in the city and district are staying away from families and working hard and helping the government to combat the COVID-19 disease.
