Damoh, Madhya Pradesh: An elderly woman was thrashed by a lady constable on Tuesday in Damoh town of Madhya Pradesh over a land dispute.
The deceased woman, Genda Bai who owns land in Arth Kheda area had been asked to sell her land to the local government for construction of a new road. However, she refused to sell the land raising a scuffle between the villagers and the woman.
Subsequently, the villagers filed a case against her for obstructing government work at the nearest police station.
Acting on the complaint, Imliya Ghat outpost in-charge Savita Rajak reached the spot and started beating her. She rushed to the hospital after sustaining severe injuries.
The video of the lady constable beating Genda Bai went viral in social media.
Additional SP of Damoh, Vivek Lal set up an enquiry over the accused constable and assured to take stringent action against her.
