Chennai: Actor and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) president Vijayakanth was admitted to Madras Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (MIOT) Hospital in Chennai on Tuesday night for secondary tests, the party said in a statement.
"He is in good health. Request people not to believe in rumours being spread about his health condition," DMDK said in a statement.
He has been admitted for a routine medical check-up and will be discharged today (October 7) morning, MIOT hospital said in a statement.
Vijayakanth, who tested positive for Covid-19 on September 22, underwent treatment for about ten days in the same hospital. He and his wife Premalatha Vijayakanth, who also tested positive later, were discharged from the hospital on October 2.

On September 24, the hospital in a statement said, "DMDK founder Vijayakanth tested Covid-19 positive on September 22. He is being treated for the same and is completely stable. He is expected to make full recovery and should be ready for discharge soon."
Vijayakanth's party leaders and well-wishers took to social media and wished for the speedy recovery of the leader. Vijayakanth was last seen playing an important role in his son Shanmuga Pandian's debut film, Sagaptham.
Meanwhile, the total COVID-19 active states in Tamil Nadu reached 45,279. Till date, 5,75,212 patients have been cured and discharged and the death toll is pegged at 9,917.
