Delhi CM slapped during roadshow

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been slapped by a man during his roadshow in Moti Nagar, New Delhi. 

The CM had boarded an open jeep for the roadshow and was waving at the crowd when an unidentified youth in a red t-shirt climbed up the vehicle and swung his right hand at Kejriwal.  

The CM lost his balance and was immediately held by his supporters. 

DCP (West) Monika Bhardwaj said the man has been identified as Suresh, 33, and he deals in spare parts in Kailash Park. 

He was immediately apprehended by the AAP workers around the jeep and handed over to the police. He has been taken to the Moti Nagar police station.


There are some previous instances where Delhi CM was ambushed by the public:

November 2013- During a press conference in Delhi, a man, who claimed to be a supporter of anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, attacked Kejriwal with black ink. 

March 2014- A similar attack took place in March 2014, when Arvind Kejriwal was campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections in Varanasi, some unidentified people threw ink at him. The agitated people even threw eggs at the open vehicle in which Kejriwal was travelling.

2014 Delhi Assembly Elections- During the 2014 Delhi Assembly election campaign, he was attacked during his roadshow in south Delhi’s Dakshinpuri area. While Kejriwal was shaking hands with his supporters, a person punched him on his back and even tried to slap him.

April 2014- After Dakshinpuri incident, Kejriwal was attacked again during his roadshow in Sultanpuri area of Delhi. This time a 38-year-old auto driver slapped him twice after garlanding him. The Delhi CM sustained a minor injury on his left eye and his spectacles were damaged.

January 2016- A woman identified as Bhavna Arora attacked Kejriwal at a public gathering with ink alleging a CNG scam in Delhi. This was the first attack on Kejriwal since he became the Chief Minister of Delhi.

March 2016- A mob pelted his car with stones and broke its windscreen at Hassanpur village in Punjab. Kejriwal, who was in the front seat next to the driver, escaped without injury, though the shattered glass fell on him.

April 2016- A member of the Aam Aadmi Sena threw a shoe at the Delhi CM when he was addressing a press conference in the Secretariat.

October 2016-  Two ABVP activists threw ink at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his comments on surgical strikes by the Army on terror launch pads across the LoC, in Transport Nagar of Rajasthan's Bikaner district.

November 2018- A man flung chilli powder at Kejriwal outside his office in the Delhi Secretariat. After throwing red chilli powder on the Delhi CM, the accused threatened to shoot him after he comes out of jail.

Februray 2019- Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's car was attacked when he was on his way to Narela in Outer Delhi for an inauguration event.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been slapped by a man during his roadshow in Moti Nagar, New Delhi.
