New Delhi: Delhi Court has issued fresh death warrants against the four convicts of Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case on March 3.

While addressing the media, Surjewala said, "Nirbhaya has become the name and symbol for women empowerment as well as women oppression in India. Though the decision has come very late in this matter but it's a warning from the entire nation to those people who even think about any kind of sexual assault against women''.
This is the third time when the death warrants have been issued against the Nirbhaya rape convicts. Earlier also, the date of execution was being decided for January 22, which got postponed to February 1, but the trial court stayed the orders of execution of four convicts as they had not exhausted all their legal remedies.

"As far as the Nirbhaya case is concerned, the court has given very right judgement but unfortunately it has taken a very long time. This government has to take steps in getting these perpetrators punishments a bit fast," said Congress leader and former MoS Home, RPN Singh.
Surjewala also attacked the BJP government over the rise in crimes against women. He said, "Under the rule of BJP in the last 6 years, we've seen the kind of barbarism happening against women of our country. Unfortunately, many BJP leaders are even involved in these crimes but our Prime Minister is not taking any strong step against them which is more frightening and diluting the steps that were being taken during the UPA era."
